In an attempt to keep you informed on the operating procedures at JoyFM, this page contains information we keep in the public file. The public file is a collection of rules and procedures that we follow in our day-to-day operations that affect our service. For example, below you will find the criteria for our music selection.
Each week, JoyFM previews the new releases in Southern Gospel Music. Not every song makes the airwaves. The songs that are selected must meet the following criteria:
1. National Distribution By A Recognized Record Company
To ensure the quality of the recording, and to guarantee that listeners will be able to purchase that particular song, if they desire to do so, in a local Christian music retailer. The company must be a Nationally recognized Southern Gospel Record company that releases singles of that artist to Southern Gospel Radio Stations.
2. Quality of Recording
The music must be on Compact Disc. For FM radio, the quality of recording is important. If you have met the first criterion, then you will meet this one. National Record companies send out singles on compact disc.
3. Lyrical Content
The lyrics of the song will be reviewed and measured against the truth of God's Word to the best of our discernment. If the words are unclear, or easily confused we will not play it. Vague references to God are unacceptable.
4. Format of WPCN
If the song meets the above criteria, then the single will be considered for airplay by WPCN. Our target audience wants a polished sound with an uplifting message. The staff of WPCN will meet weekly to consider singles for airplay. Only songs that align with the Southern Gospel Format will be considered.
